FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL PART III

Now with this child, I was back to, HALLELUJAH! And so was she. Avery acted like she had done this a thousand times before. She walked up to the line in front of the school and acted like no big deal. The teacher had us go in the classroom and write them a little note of encouragement. I wrote hers and read it to her (a little choked up) she pulled her face away from me and gave me a look that said, "why on earth are you crying." I quietly asked if she wanted me to go. Her reply, "yeah, see ya." And that was it. I was the first parent to leave the room.

After coming home, she told me that the kids were all saying I want to go home. Her response, "I'd stay here all day if they let me." Wow, I guess I'm not that fun of a mom.

On a side note, I have to tell everyone how proud I am of Avery. Our neighbors little boy, who is in Avery's class, broke his leg 2 weeks before school started and is in a cast from his toes to his hip. He obviously can't play on the playground or run around at recess. His mom told me that during recess, Avery sat next to him in the warm sun. Jacob isn't a big talker, but Avery didn't mind. She just sat there and kept him company, not saying much. Wow, it's moments like this when I think that something must be getting through to that girl, even if I don't personaly get to see it.
She was so excited to go to school in her new dress
Here she is with Jacob
